Who Qualifies For Small Group?
Any person, sole proprietor, self-employed individual, independent contractor, firm, corporation, partnership or association that is actively engaged in the operation of a business, and employed an average of at least 1 but not more than 50 employees. A sole proprietor, an independent contractor, or a self-employed individual is considered a small employer only if all of the conditions and criteria established in this section are met.
Health conditions are generally not a problem when setting up a Group Health Insurance Plan.
If you are a self employed , or a Business Group of 1-50, you may be eligible for a Group policy but will have to meet the following guidelines:

Organizations must not be formed solely for the purpose of obtaining health coverage.

Taft Hartley groups, Professional Employers Organizations (PEO)/employee leasing firms and closed groups are not eligible.

Only non-occupational injuries and disease are covered

A group that is wholly domiciled within the state with 1 to 50 eligible, including COBRA and mini-COBRA eligibility cannot be denied based on medical conditions; however, rates may be adjusted for known medical conditions
- All industries are eligible for medical coverage
- Dental, Life, and Disability Plans are also available
- Most Group Health plans cover maternity and preventative care.
